This nearly invisible gas stop on Route 66 and I-40 has a deep history dating back to the 1870’s. Between 1906 and 1940 Ludlow was the southern rail-head for the Tonopah and Tidewater Railroad, operated by the Pacific Coast Borax Company which delivered borax and other mining products from Death Valley and Beatty, Nevada, to long distance Santa Fe Railway lines.
